Newspaper Archive of
Arkansas Catholic
Arkansas Catholic began the process of making digital copies of The Southern Guardian and The Guardian, predecessor titles to Arkansas Catholic, in 2011 as part of its centennial year. These digital copies are high-resolution scans that are made directly from the last remaining printed copies.
To make the scans of these printed newspapers, which are bound into books annually, Arkansas Catholic contracted with SmallTownPapers, a company that specializes in digital preservation of small weekly newspapers. Many of the pages received "white glove" treatment to remove creases and piece pages back together.
Volumes from 1911 to 2001 have been scanned and are available for searching online for free. Issues from 2002 to the present are available by signing up for a free Arkansas Catholic digital subscription, the complete online version of the newspaper, at www.arkansas-catholic.org.
Editor’s Note: A special thanks to Subiaco Abbey, which was able to share some bound volumes from 1912 to 1917 to help us nearly complete our archives. Please note that this issue is missing from our arhcives: Nov. 27, 1915
