This ecumenical movement began Dec. 13, 1941, as the United Council of Church Women, and works to promote global peace and justice. One of the founding members is Ernestine Henderson McKinney of Little Rock, who was recognized at the national CWU Jubilee Assembly last month in St. Louis. Gov. Bill Clinton will sign a proclama- tion declaring Dec. 13 as "Church Women United Day." There are 19 local units of CWU in Arkansas.
