The parish will also participate in the "Advent Friends" program, in which interested individuals or families do special things for their assigned secret Advent friends. Homemade gifts and food, letters sharing holiday memories, gifts of time, prayer, chores, etc. are encouraged.' The project lasts until the feast of Epiphany, when.names of Ad- vent friends will be revealed at a "homecoming" social. A Christmas Bake and Craft Sale will be sponsored by the Altar Society of St. Michael parish in Van Buren on Sat- urday, Dec. 8 and Sunday, Dec. 9 before and after Masses. All are invited to join St. Thomas Aquinas parishioners in Fayetteville for their annual bazaar Friday, Dec. 7 and Saturday, Dec. 8. Friday's events will include family games with prizes, re- freshments and a silent auction. On Saturday, there will be a combination crafts sale/flea market/book sale (all items at bargain prices!) and a live auction. Highlighting the weekend ba- zaar will be an International Festival on St. Edward;s CYO, Texarkana, pre- paring spaghetti dinner for parents Saturday evening featuring a variety of ethnic foods and a prize giveaway. Catholic Daughters Court Victory #564 of St. Joseph in Pine Bluff served as lectors, Eucharistic Ministers and gift bearers at the TV Mass on Catholic Daughter Sunday celebrated last month. After the Mass, all members enjoyed a meal together with Pastor Rev. W. An- drew Smith and Deacon Tim Massanelli. The CYO and seventh- and eighth- grade Youth Group of Blessed Sacra- ment in Jonesboro sponsored a Hal- loween Fun Nite for the young and young-at-heart of the parish. The evening included games to fit the sea- son and costume contests. Canned Blessed Sacrament, Jonesboro, "Halloween Fun Nite" goods collected as admission fees were given to the parish food pantry. Betsy Wiederkehr is parish youth director. The Altar Society of St. Agnes parish in Mena will sponsor a bazaar on Saturday, Dec. 8 from 9:30 AM to 3 PM. Homemade crafts and Christma1 decorations, as well as jams, jellies and baked goods will be sold. There will als0 t be a prize raffle. " . i'; I Parents of CYO members from St, ] Edward in Texarkana were recentl treated to an Appreciation Dinner, Pastor Rev, James Walters began the evening with a blessing; Jammie Butler and Autumn McDaniel offered a de:, votional. AI Andres, adult advisor, presented the president's gavel to Kirn Urban and calendars to vice-president DiDi McWilliams, secretary-treasure( Trace Andres, and assistant advisor Vito Daddato. The evening ended with a slide show of last year's activities.
