Search underway for longest-married cou Baton Rouge, LA- A search for the longest married couple in the U: S. is underway, in conjunction with World Marriage Day next Feb. 10. The search is being conducted by Worldwide Marriage Encounter, the largest marriage enrichment organiza- tion in the world, which has sponsored World Marriage Day on the second Sunday of February since 1981. "With so much attention directed to separation and divorce, we need an opportunity to focus on the many couples who are living out their mar- riages in life-long, committed relation- ships," said Pat Blanchard, who with her husband, Mike, are national coordina- tors for World Marriage Day 1991. "We want our children to grow up knowing that a life-long marriage rela- tionship is possible," said Mike Blanchard. "We want to honor the nation's longest married couples as our heroes - husbands and wives who are living examples to our youth."
