66 99 bear Friend, A couple of years ago, I went with friends to see John Power's play, Patent Shoes. It was about growing up Catholic in the 1930's, 1940's, and 1950's. In one scene, a Sister led a group of fourth graders on stage for a May crowning. The Children then began to sing the hymn, "Bring Flowers of the Rarest." The audience loved it, and at the chorus everyone joined in the singing, "O Mary We crown thee with blossoms today, Queen of the angels, Queen of the May." Those Who weren't singing were humming. Powers said that it happened at every perform- ance! . I know you would have been smiling and singing, too. With a tear in your eye, !uke most. It was a warm, happy scene from your life and mine. But it was more than Just nostalgia That scene and others touched people deeply. I found myself thinking of the important'ways the "Sisters" have touched mv life I took them for ranted as a , ,, ,, g Child, but today I appreciate them as wonderful women of God. They gave you and me so much. Today these Sisters, my sisters, need your help. They need you notonly to re- member them, but to care for them, the way they cared for you. I am asking you to Say, "Yes, Sisterr' one more time.
