PAGE 8 THE GUARDIAN, JUNE 7. 1974 Reorganization Of U$CC Studied Washington (N(') -- Work has begun oil a plan to reorganize the offices of the United States Catholic Conference (USCC) and the National Conference of Catholic Bishops (NCCB) in order to cut costs and simplify structure while maintaining all major functions of both organizations. Officials have said that budgetary necessities will force staff cuts of about 10 per cent, but that they will try to make the cuts through normal per- sonnel attrition. The two con- ferences employ a total of about 300 persons in offices here and elsewhere in the country. "We are suggesting this as a spiritual act," said The Rev. Eugene . Carson Blake, president of BFW. "If Christians would abstain from meat on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays -- starting now -- it would be a cultic, visible act demonstrating our concern."
