AT 8TH AVE. / PHONE 534-3131 Father Placidus, O.S.B. 25 Years in the Holy Priesthood Father Placidus Eckart, O.S.B., who was ordained to the Holy Priesthood 25 years ago this month, is on assignment from New Subiaco Abbey, Subiaco, Ark., as pastor of Sacred Heart parish, Muenster, Texas. of the Benedictine community in 1953. He taught at Subiaco Academy for many years and ministered to several outlying missions, including St. Anthony's, Ratcliff; Sacred Heart of Mary, Barling; and the Booneville State Sanatorium. He was born in Subiaco March 3, 1925. In 1943, he entered the Abbey novitiate, and in October, 1944, he hade his profession of religious vows. He received Holy Orders in the Abbey Church May 24, 1949, from His Excellency Bishop Albert L. Fletcher. From 1954 to 1958, Father Placidus also was director of Lay Brothers at the abbey, and later was spiritual director of the Catholic Women's Union of Arkansas. Father Placidus remained at the Abbey following ordination and became treasurer He has been pastor of the Muenster, Texas, parish for more than nine years.
