THE GUARDIAN, IIAY 3, 1974 PAGE 7"B Father Kettler 25 Years in the Holy Priesthood Father John J. Kettler Pastor, St. Mary's Parish St. Vincent, Father John J. Kettler, who was ordained to the Holy Priesthood 25 years ago this month, is pastor of St. Mary's parish at St. Vincent and associate pastor at Center Ridge for the care of missions at Clinton and Fairfield Bay. Father Kettler was born at Armstrong Springs, near Searcy, June 21, 1925. He at- tended Morris School at Searcy, St. Patrick's School, North Little Rock, Catholic High School, Little Rock, and Sacred Heart Academy, Helena, before entering St. John's Home Missions Seminary in 1941. He was ordained to the priesthood May 26, 1949 in the Cathedral of St. Andrew, Little Rock, by His Excellency Bishop Albert L. Fletcher. He was first assigned as associate pastor of St. Cecilia's parish, Newport, and subsequently as associate rector of St. Andrew's Cathedral parish, Little Rock. Father Kettler became associate pastor of St. Paul's parish, Pocahontas, in September 1952. In 1954, he was appointed associate pastor of St. Joseph's parish, Pine Bluff. Three years later he was assigned as pastor of St. Barbara's parish, DeQueen. In September, 1962, Father Kettler was transferred to the pastorate of Immaculate Heart of Mary parish, Walnut Ridge, and a year later to the pastorate of St. John's parish, Malvern. In August, 1966, he became pastor of St. Peter's parish, Wynne. Three years later, in 1969, he was appointed pastor of Holy Cross parish, Crossett, and in Sep- tember, 1971, he received his present pastorate at St. Vincent. Care of the Clinton and Fairfield Bay missions was added to his pastoral duties in June, 1972. Hattieville, Ark.
