THE GUARDIAN, MAY 3, 1974 PAGE 5--B Fa,ther Kordsmeier 25 Years in the Holy Priesthood Father John W. Kordsmeier, whose 25th anniversary of ordination to the Holy Priesthood occurs this month, is pastor of St. Mary's parish, Paragould. diocesan Director of Hospitals. A few years later he was elected vice president of the Catholic Hospital Association of the United States and Canada. He was born in Morrilton May 13, 1925, attended Sacred Heart School there and entered St. John's Home Missions Seminary, Little Rock, in 1937. He received Holy Orders May 26, 1949 from His Excellency Bishop Albert L. Fletcher in the Cathedral of St. Andrew, Little Rock. In 1960, Father Kordsmeier was given the additional assignment of diocesan director of Catholic Charities, and in August, 1963, he also became chaplain of Our Lady's Con- vent, Little Rock. Qther John W. Kordsmeier Pastor, St. Mary's Parish After ordination, Father Kordsmeier attended St. Louis University's graduate school and earned a Master's Degree in Education. In March, 1951, he was appointed assistant diocesan Superintendent of Schools and chaplain of St. Joseph's Orphanage, North Little Rock. In January, 1953, Father Kordsmeier became Superintendent of Schools and He was appointed assistant chancellor of the diocese in August, 1965, and three years later became pastor of St. Mary's parish, McGehee, and administrator of St. Mary's parish, Dermott. He received his present pastoral assignment in Paragould in Sep- tember, 1969. Father Kordsmeier is a cousin of Father Charles F. Kordsmeier, Little Rock diocesan chancellor.
