Council Batesville -- Arkansas' 22rid council of the Knights of Columbus is being organized here and, by authority of the Supreme Council in New Haven, Conn., will be known as Blessed Sacrament Council 6140, it was announced this week by State Deputy B. L Fouke of Texarkana. Former State Deputy James D. Brackett of Pocahontas, who was appointed a special District Deputy to arrange the council's organiza- tion, will preside Sunday, March 23 when the council is instituted and the first Degree ofColumbian- ism is conferred on 21 of its 35 charter members, drawn from St. Mary's parish, Batesville and St. Cecilia's parish, Newport Eight of the charter members are trans- ferring from other councils and six are former Knights who will be reinstated. The initiation, scheduled for 2 P.M., will be followed by election and installation of officers in St. Mary's Hall, Batesville Arecep- tion for ladies will be held at Kelly's Grill at 3 P.M. Mass will be offered at 5 P.M. in St. Mary's Church, and a social and banquet will be held at the Batesville Coun- try Club at 6:30 PM. Sister Barbara, a native of Washington, D. C, was con- vetted to Catholicism in 1943, graduated from Columbia Tech in 1949 and the McLaughlin School of Medical Technicians in 1950 and entered the Francis- can Sisters of the Atonement, Graymoor, Garrison, N. Y., in 1951. She took her "boot train- ing" in social work at a Settle- ment House in Boston and then worked in a cateehlcal home mis- sion apostolate for eight years in Saco, Me. She is a past mem- ber of the Bishop's Ecumeni- cal Commission and she taught aduit religious education cour- ses at St. Francis College for four years She presently is studying in a Masters program at Catholic University of Am- erica.
